For the past seven years, the vast majority of our resources have gone into funding Messengers of Grace School which provides food, education, and medical care for over 800 children each day. Children hear the Gospel at school and lives are transformed. Empty bellies are filled, minds are fuelled, and souls are nurtured. It's been a beautiful ministry! Over 30 men and women are employed on a full-time basis and countless lives are impacted every day.
God has been so faithful to bless our ministry for the past seven years. When children are at school they are safe, provided for, and protected from the often harsh realities of life in rural Uganda.
But, at the end of the day, the children still go home to extreme poverty and families who struggle to survive...
It's time for a change!
Collapsing houses, lack of clothing, and food insecurity are still daily realities for our students and their families.
We are ready to make a big shift in our ministry so that we can focus our efforts on reaching beyond the school borders and helping our children's families on a deeper and more sustainable level.
We are going to focus on helping men and women provide for their families. Whether it be through grants to start a business, farming, or education, we want to help the people of Rakai to thrive! We want to empower them to take care of their children.
Our future plan will also allow us to meet more critical needs in the community such as medical emergencies, house repairs, and more.
So, what's the plan?
We've identified a need in our area for a gas pump, like the one pictured. These are used frequently by motorcycle taxi drivers to fuel up but currently they have to travel miles and miles for gas. We want to change that!
We are launching a gas station which, according to our calculations, will create enough revenue to financially sustain the school! We need to raise approximately $30,000 to get the project off the ground. It's a big start up cost, but once the pump is running it will be able to fund all operation expenses of the school including food, salaries, and school supplies.
This project has been on our wish list for three years and it's finally time to make it happen. But we need your help! The sooner the gas station is funded, the sooner we can begin making real, lasting change in Rakai.
Will you join us?
